Yes, another religious polemic. Leave me alone. If I'm going to write on this blog, I'm going to rant about things no one cares about just like everyone else, dang it!
So, you may know that Michael Newdow has been trying to get the phrase "under God" out of American currency and the Pledge of Allegiance on grounds that it violates the separation of church and state, as well as his rights as an atheist. You can read the article here.
Personally, as an atheist, I've never really given it a thought. On its face, I've always thought of it as a relic from an earlier era, used in the same way as Einstein uses "God." However, that doesn't make it right, and I don't agree with the court's contention that it is "patriotic you and ceremonial," and thus OK. I tend to be quite patriotic without ever having to mention the "G" word, and considering with the Pledge especially it was inserted specifically for a religious reason, it's time now we take it out.
What do you think? Er, despite my audience of just me? Next, I'll rant about why the term "bright" is a joke.

As long as they don't make me memorize it again with different words.
In today's day and age? Come on -- it'd be monosyllabic and Twitter length, like a high school cheerleader chant.
"USA, A-OK, don't mess with us...something something "A"! LOL!"
