Coupla interesting projects going on that I'm just catching wind of. One is the National Ignition Facility, which is trying to create positive energy gains through fusion.
We've all heard stories of tabletop nuclear fusion and all that. While from what I've read (with my limited knowledge...) there hasn't been a major breakthrough yet, at least this outfit seems close to achieving a positive energy gain; i.e., more energy out than put in through fusion. Besides, what a cool name! Anything with the word "ignition" automatically deserves an "R" rating and at least one A-list actor.. Makes kind of a cool band name too.
